Pre-Phonemic Awareness Activity – Silly Mistakes!

Read a familiar poem or story . . . but make any kind of silly mistake that will be obvious to your child.

For example:
  • You might replace a word with nonsense:
    “Jack and Jill went up the pickle”
  • Or say the words in the wrong order:
    “The first little pig built a straw of house”
  • Or even swap sounds:
    “The clock struck one, The mouse ran down,
    Dickory, Hickory, Hock”

Ask your child to catch your error! (Silly mom or dad.)
